Peach and Blueberry Pastry

ree

Before God calls us to act, He often first allows us to hear the need and feel the burden. Nehemiah’s journey began not with action, but with awareness. He heard about Jerusalem’s broken walls, felt the weight of the news, and allowed that burden to move his heart.

Sometimes, that same process happens in the quiet moments of our day—over coffee, in the kitchen, or while baking something simple and beautiful. Awareness starts small, just like preparing a pastry: we gather what we have, tend to the details, and let something good take shape.

Today’s recipe is a little reminder of that. These Peach & Blueberry Puff Pastries come together in minutes but carry a sweetness that lingers—golden puff pastry topped with fresh peach slices, blueberries, cream cheese, honey, and a dusting of powdered sugar. Just like Nehemiah’s first step, it’s about noticing… noticing the beauty in what’s before you and the opportunities God is quietly placing in your hands.

May each bite remind you: before the building comes the burden, and before the action comes awareness.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare puff pastry:

Roll out the puff pastry slightly and cut into 4 equal rectangles.

Lightly score a border about ½ inch from the edges (don’t cut all the way through).

3. Mix filling:

In a small bowl, stir together whipped cream cheese and vanilla extract.

Spread evenly inside the scored area of each pastry.

4. Arrange fruit:

Layer peach slices neatly over the cream cheese.

Scatter blueberries on top.

Sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the fruit.

Drizzle with honey.

5. Egg wash:

Beat the egg in a small bowl.

Brush the edges of each pastry with the egg wash for a golden finish.

6. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

7. Finish & serve:

Allow pastries to cool for 5 minutes.

Dust generously with powdered sugar.

Serve warm, ideally with a cappuccino .
